As previously mentioned in Post 4, there is a place near me that stocks soapstone.
HOWEVER,they do Not carry it in any form
other than counter top sized slabs.
i did receive some free limestone, and I'm wondering about its usability for carving pipes. i imagine its not safe.
i also was able to purchase a piece on eBay! yay!
it should arrive tomorrow or Thursday.
as you can see, it's a pretty good size, a little more than a Lb. apparently.

6 dollars. but it was in a flat rate shipping box
so its around 16$
